Whenever I go to parties or friend’s houses I am in awe of the crafty home decor and decorations they have. 9 times out of 10 it’s all handmade. Queue the jealousy. I am one of those mothers that no matter how hard I try I just don’t have that creative gene. I can’t make a seasonal wreath and I sure can’t change a piece of wood into a rustic looking menu board or shelf. It’s just not in me. Making decorations for my daughter’s second birthday was like pulling teeth. It took forever to just make a banner. I will never do that again.

I’m always on the lookout for items I can buy and invest in for years to come. I am a very frugal person. And I mean very frugal. I will not buy something I don’t need because it’s nice. It has to have a purpose and make sense. One thing I love is an item that has a dual purpose. Like a computer for example. I can use it to browse social media, read emails, play games, and work on my blog. I can use it every day and it continues to be useful.

I recently came across the Indigo Fern Felt Letter Board and instantly became obsessed. My mind started racing with the options I had. I can use this for my anniversary or for birthdays. I could even hang it up on my wall and consider it actual crafty home decor! I immediately realized how useful it was and what its lasting impact would be.

The set comes with more than 600 letters, numbers, and emojis. It includes both a mounting hook and a portable stand. I love using the hearts and emojis to create unique designs. It makes me feel creative!

Have you ever walked into those stores like At Home and see all their seasonal decorations? It’s taken me about 2 months to get the decor ready in our new family room. There is no way I could design a room every few months for every season! I will swap out a few knick knacks here and there for each holiday, but could never redecorate the entire room each time! Plus, I am a fan of personalized decor, something that really shows your family and what you’re all about.

This felt board creates the perfect way to change a room without needing to buy all that expensive seasonal decor. Next month I will be celebrating 4 years married to my husband. I designed the board to fit that theme with a wedding picture hanging from the top. The rest of the summer, I can put up an awesome summer message to keep it beach themed!

I love having the option to include a picture. It’s perfect for showing off your children. Just think about how often you can change it to celebrate their birthday, Christmas, adorable Halloween costumes, and more. It takes wall pictures to the next level!

 

 

How it Works

The actual Felt Letter Board comes all in one piece and is 12×18 inches. Each letter is attached by plastic, but the set comes with little snippers so you can cut the letters off. This is crucial to make sure there are no unnecessary pieces of plastic showing on the letters. It also comes with a rope, two mini clothespins, and two screw eyes to hold the rope in place. The screws took a bit of work to get in (apparently my husband didn’t have a problem though) and the rope was already a bit frazzled. This caused it to get little pieces on the board. Thankfully it brushes off easily and you can really use any type of thread to match your decor.

Once you get the hanging picture part all set up and the letters clipped, it’s all pretty self explanatory. You can put together any phrase, emojis, or inspirational quote you want. Think crafty home decor made easy. I love that you can change it up monthly, weekly, or even daily. My husband has even surprised me and put something new on the board (he’s a keeper, am I right?). The set comes with a bag for storing the letters, so you won’t lose anything and you can keep them easily out of your child’s reach.

Now that I have this Felt Letter Board, I consider myself a crafty person. Well, at least I craft what is on the board. When family and friends come over, they instantly see the Letter Board and it becomes a conversation piece. The personalization it brings to the room is perfect. They even think it’s fun to look at to see if we’ve updated what it says.
