Room on the Broom

This is an instant classic when it comes to Halloween books for toddlers. It’s an easy read with its clever rhyming. Follow the witch and three different animals in a tale of how a witch can be nice. My daughter loves looking at all the animals and how the animals stick up for the witch. This book has also been turned into a TV special.

Pinterest is filled with ways to bring this book to life with crafts and scavenger hunts as well!

Where Is Baby’s Pumpkin?

This is hands down my daughter’s favorite Halloween book. It’s so simple, but that’s what toddlers love. My daughter loves seeing all the Halloween themed items and now tells ME what is behind each flap (yes, it’s lift-the-flap too!).

Karen Katz does such a great job with this book. If you haven’t seen other books in the series they include, “Where is Baby’s Belly Button” and “Grandma and Me” and they are all worth reading.

Happy Halloween, Daniel Tiger!

A Daniel Tiger Halloween book AND it’s lift-the-flap? Yep, that sounds like one of the best Halloween books for toddlers! Help Daniel Tiger and his friends dress up for Halloween and march in their Halloween parade. This is an instant classic Daniel Tiger book. If your child loves Daniel Tiger, they will love this one.

Little Blue Truck’s Halloween

I love love love Little Blue Truck books (and so does my daughter) and this book does not disappoint. It includes lift-the-flaps to see who all of Little Blue Truck’s friends are under their costumes.

If you’re interested in the Little Blue Truck series, this is a great book to start with or add to the collection you already have.

Llama Llama Trick or Treat

Yes, this is the same series with “Llama Llama Red Pajama” and the (still kind of) new Netflix series. Toddlers love repetition, so if they are a fan of the Llama llama series, they will love seeing the characters all dressed up for Halloween and following Llama Llama and Mama Llama during the holiday. A staple in Halloween books for toddlers!

Happy Halloween, Curious George

Curious George is a classic, but still thriving now-a-days. Walk with George through all the festivities of Halloween and enjoy the rhymes along the way!

Babies Love Halloween

This isn’t the first lift-the-flap book on the list and it’s not the last for good reason. Toddlers love looking behind flaps to see what they can find. It keeps them engaged in the book and makes reading more than just words.

This is a great book for a toddler’s first Halloween they understand. It teaches them about all of the different characters they will see and what Halloween is really about.

Trick or Treat: Halloween Sound Book

Another way to keep toddlers entertained while reading? Sounds. This is not only the perfect Halloween book for toddlers to learn about trick-or-treating, but also a great first book to learn how to look and find. With only 3 buttons to choose from, your toddler will feel more confident on which button to press.

The Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin

This book takes on the Itsy Bitsy Spider song with pumpkins. I tend to read the book without the rhythm to the song as my daughter stops me every two seconds to point out what she sees. That’s a good thing though! She is so entertained by this one, she needs to know what everything is.

If your toddler loves the Itsy Bitsy Spider song (or is even just familiar with it), they will love this one.

Boo!

Leslie Patricelli has a great series of toddler books and this one is no exception. It walks a baby through Halloween and what challenges they will face and everything they will come across during Halloween time.

It also shows all the emotions you can carve a jack-o-lantern, introducing your child to many different emotions.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Mickey’s Halloween

Disney does such a great job with their lift-the-flap books. Most books include one flap per page, but you can expect 5-6 on each page. This allows your toddler to interact with the book and choose what they want to look at first.

This book is designed to introduce your toddler to the concept of Halloween and dressing up.

Don’t Push the Button! A Halloween Treat

This is from the writers of the original “Don’t Push the Button” book. It’s perfect for toddlers as it has only one rule: don’t push the button! Read through the book and just don’t push that button on the scary house down the street!
