We all deserve regular pampering – yes, that includes moms on call 24/7! I know it’s hard to take a break for yourself when everybody needs you and you have a million and one things to do. I promise you that it’s well worth the effort to find how to pamper yourself in limited time. It will fill your energy cup, so you can better serve not only yourself, but others around you as well.

In my opinion, everyone should take at least a few minutes a day to spoil themselves. You don’t have to spend a lot of money. Why not put together your very own pampering routine? To give you some inspiration, here’s 5 tips on how to pamper yourself:

How To Pamper Yourself as a Busy Mom

Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize Every Day

Basic skincare doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be some relaxing “me-time” if you pick the right products. If you aren’t sure where to start, visit your local beauty counter and let them help you out. Choose organic products with as few preservatives as possible.

This routine removes all harmful residue from your skin and makes it look younger. Your skin is your largest organ. Treat it with respect!

Always Make Time for a Massage

I try to budget for a monthly Swedish or foot massage. It’s an hour of pure relaxation; the touch of a good therapist will make you forget your worries. A massage room is like a little bubble away from the real world. It’s honestly the key on how to pamper yourself.

Unfortunately, I don’t always have the money to indulge in a professional treatment, but that’s okay. There’s always the DIY approach! Massage is excellent for toning and firming the skin post-pregnancy and it’s even better when you factor in a quality massage oil or cream that contains vital vitamins: A, E, C and K are ideal.

Take Aromatherapy Baths at Least Once a Week

There’s nothing quite like sinking into a hot bath at the end of a tough day. My personal favorite is ylang ylang. It has a floral scent that makes my bathroom smell amazing. Aromatherapy comes with health benefits too. For example, lavender, sage, and rose oils have been shown to reduce stress in women with painful periods.

Learn to Exfoliate and Dry Skin Brush

Scrubbing away dead skin cells doesn’t sound glamorous, but it leaves you feeling clean and invigorated. Massaging your skin can also break down cellulite – what more reason do you need?

You can use an exfoliation mitt, a skin scrub, or both. Don’t overdo it – exfoliating once a week is fine. Too much exfoliation can lead to discoloration and irritation. Don’t use a mitt or loofah on your face – a facial scrub is enough. When exfoliating your body, you can scrub harder on less delicate areas such as your back, thighs, and forearms.

Oh, and remember to exfoliate your feet! I like to soak mine in warm water for a few minutes before using a pumice stone to remove hard, dead skin. You could also invest in a file if you have a heavy buildup of skin on your heels.

Every Sunday night, Go All-Out.

Sundays have a bad reputation. It’s the end of the weekend and signals the start of yet another Monday. I decided to take back Sunday evenings, after I put my son to bed, and turn it into a weekly pampering session. Believe it or not, Sunday is now one of my favorite days now that I know how to pamper myself!

First, I turn my bathroom into a spa, complete with scented candles. Sometimes I add some soft, relaxing music. There’s always a glass of water or cup of green tea on the side of my bath. It goes without saying that I keep my phone turned off and tell everyone that I’m not to be disturbed.

I run a hot bath, step in, and just relax for a while. Next, it’s time to clean and condition my hair and exfoliate everything I can possibly reach. If I feel particularly energetic, I also shave at this point – but it’s not essential. Pampering is about feeling great, not making yourself perfectly smooth.

Once I’m out of the bath, it’s time to give my face some much-needed attention. Sometimes I follow my usual skincare routine, but I often like to use a face mask instead. If I’ve given my skin a particularly thorough exfoliation, I rub in plenty of moisturizer.

The best part is you can change or create new ways on how to pamper yourself at any time. I love playing around with products and trying new inexpensive DIY treatments. Why not schedule some much deserved “me time” this week? You’re worth it.

I need to take more fancy baths with scents. I usually just have a long shower but an aromatherapy bath sounds amazing.

What a great idea Tami! I am excited to schedule a nice prenatal massage for me as well too. It's much deserved for both of us.
