We’ve been trying to find ways to keep our daughter entertained while stuck at home. The one thing she truly loves to play right now is animal charades.
It’s been a challenge to find constant new ideas to keep the kids occupied in the house.
I’ve been trying to cut down on TV and tablet time, but they resort to running around in circles in the house. That’s never fun.
Everything either takes too much prep time or holds their attention for literally 2 minutes.
This fun animal charades printable game has kept her active and still learning. It’s also helped get a lot of her extra energy out.

I can’t tell you how many times she has toppled over laughing from how bad our attempts at acting out the animals are and when she tries to act them out as well.
I’ve included a free animal charades pdf inside this post with no email required.
You can print it out with a double-sided printer or cut out each piece and glue the backs of the printable charades cards with pictures to create actual cards.
Each card includes a different animal, whether it be a barnyard animal, a zoo animal, or a pet. The animal includes the written name to help with sight words for older kids.
These are designed to be all the animals your kids know and love so they can really enjoy this charades activity.
It even comes with a guide so your kids can see what animals they can guess!
What Exactly is Charades?
Charades is that crazy fun game where you act out words, or in this case animals without using any words or noise.
It’s basically like a guess the animal game without any sound!
This version includes all fun animals that kids of all ages know and love.
How Do You Play Animal Charades with Kids?
The fun part of this animal charades game is how versatile it is depending on the age of your child.
Kids as young as 2 can play, but older kids will still have fun too. Here are a few variations on the charades for kids’ rules depending on their age.
Toddlers Age 18 months and older (3 ways to play)
For younger toddlers, you will use the animal charade cards as printable animal flash cards. First, flip each card over one by one and have them do one of the following:
– Say the animal sound
– Say the animal name
– Act like the animal
For Preschool Age and Older
Flip over each card one by one and have the child act out the animal. You can even get the whole family involved!
For an easier variation, allow your child to make noises while acting out the animal. It can be hard for the little ones to remember not to make any noise!
We love having my 4-year-old go into one room while we help her think of a way to act out the animal on the card. Then go into the other room to have the rest of the family guess.
Once you’re done playing, just stick the cards in a Ziploc sandwich bag and store them for later use!
You can use reuse these as many times as you want as the kids keep growing.
