The Best Social Media Strategy for Bloggers – Blogging can be overwhelming. You’re thrown into a million different directions and told you need to do 56 different things every day to be successful. Sound familiar?

Well, how do you know you’re spending your time and money on the right thing? You’re doing all these things and not seeing any traffic or income in return.

So, how is this the answer? If you’re new to blogging, I’m sure you’ve hit the point where you want to quit. Don’t. It will pay off. You just need to know where to focus your time.

Here’s a hint. Social Media isn’t it.

MYTH: BLOGGERS NEED TO BE ON EVERY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM

You’ve heard it before. You need to be on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Mix (formerly StumbleUpon), Youtube, and the list goes on and on.

On top of that, you need to be active in every single platform. You should also be posting 3-4 times a day on EACH to keep your traffic up.

REALITY

Whoever invented those rules is crazy! That could be the case behind a long-standing blog that makes 6 figures, but let’s get real here. This blog is just you.

If you’re lucky enough, you have a virtual assistant that can take some of your work off your hands, but even then, it’s a lot!

SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER VS. BLOGGER

The word “social media influencer” is thrown around a lot when it comes to blogging. The truth is you’re a blogger, not an influencer.

A social media influencer focuses on social media by partnering with brands. You’re a blogger. You are focused on gaining traffic to your site, not your social media.

I personally thought I needed to build up my Instagram account to be successful. I started commenting religiously on other people’s accounts and following people to gain more followers.

Before I knew it, I was spending the majority of my day on Instagram and struggling to keep up with other accounts and even my blog.
Keys to why your social media marketing strategy is hurting you as a new blogger. Here are all the tips you need to know to make blogging easier and find inspiration to succeed. #blog#bloggingtips #momblogger #parentingblog #socialmediatips

I now know the ins and outs of Instagram well, but want to know a secret? I’m a blogger and it doesn’t matter. I could easily gain 1,000 followers a month if I tried, but it wouldn’t make much difference when blogging.

Still if you are interested in building up your account, here is my article about 5 Instagram Mistakes that are Hurting your Account.

Honestly, even if you’re not building up your account, it’s a good read when you decide to get on there just to try out the waters AFTER you put your main focus on your blog by using this social media strategy for bloggers.

THE STRATEGY THAT WORKS

Let’s take a look at my blog analytics for a minute:

The first screenshot is from a several months ago on my site. The second is just recently when I stopped sharing on rigorously on my social media accounts.

Not much of a change in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, right? It’s a difference of a whole 265 page views. Notice I didn’t include Pinterest and there’s a good reason why below.

June’s total was 3.9% of my total social page views and October was 3.7% of my total social page views.

I was spending countless hours doing repin threads, blog comment threads, Instagram pods (shame on me), and more. I was posting to Instagram DAILY and struggling to keep up on Facebook and Twitter accounts.

On top of that, I was frantically trying to keep up with writing content on my site. I even had guest posters on my site every other week, so I could keep new content coming.

All the free tips online about a social media strategy for bloggers on multiple websites all gave the same information, so I must be doing it right I thought. Still, I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted and it was a waste of my time.

I hit a low point around 6 months of blogging. My page views were dropping, my motivation was gone and on top of that, I had all day morning sickness to go with it. I knew something had to change, so I changed it.

HOW I GOT MY BLOGGING STATUS BACK

I heard something that would forever change the way I blog. Your goal is to get traffic to your site to make money. Why are you wasting your time on social media accounts when they give you minimal views? It was the most honest thing I had ever heard.

I then started looking at more well-known bloggers and realized very quickly they had the same techniques and they were still making $10K a month!

All I needed to do was focus on my main source of social page views and grow from there!

See more of how I did this with my amazing social media strategy for bloggers and how you can do the same!

THE TRUTH ABOUT FACEBOOK PROMOTION GROUPS

I also noticed something about those Facebook promotion groups. They only have a few thousand followers in them and I’m sure most of them don’t see much of an increase in their traffic.

They may sell some of their products, but ultimately bloggers are in there to promote THEIR OWN posts. That’s why I’m in them anyway.

Yes, I am still part of Facebook groups with daily threads. I love to answer questions for new bloggers. Karma exists in blogging and creating relationships can be so important, especially if you need help in the future.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER YOU DITCH SOCIAL MEDIA

You will have more time. I now write 2-3 posts easily a week without any time struggle

You will learn more. With more time comes more focus in growing your blog. You will have time to take useful courses like Pinteresting Strategies.

You may see a dip in traffic for the first month or 2 by 10%. This is normal. You’re not getting those 10-20 page views a day from other social media accounts. This will become mute once you put more focus you social media strategy for bloggers in Pinterest and growing your blog. The page views will continue to rise on other mediums!

THE TOOLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL ON PINTEREST

Pinterest can be difficult to understand at first. How many pins do you need every day? How do you do it without spending ALL your time you originally spent on social media with Pinterest?

THE ULTIMATE PIN STRATEGY

I’ve put together my social media strategy for bloggers called The Ultimate Pin Strategy that teaches you how to set up all your site pins in less than an hour A MONTH. The only tool you need is Tailwind and I can supply you a free 30-day trial to try it out and make sure it’s right for you.

This strategy has grown my Pinterest views by more than 300K within 30 days, so imagine where you can be!

The best part? The Ultimate Pin Strategy is currently FREE by filling out the information below!

THE OPTION TO PIN MANUALLY

As a new blogger, it might be difficult to invest in a scheduling assistant. You may be making mere pennies and I get it. I was once there too. Tailwind itself is worth it for the analytics it provides (try it out and you’ll see what I mean), but I understand if it’s not for you right now.

I have good news though. There is another way to have a successful social media plan!

When I first started out, I read Carly Campbell’s Pinteresting Strategies ebook. She has now upgraded it to an ecourse recently and it is better than ever! No Tailwind is required, and I credit her with bringing my Pinterest profile even on the map.

I increased my monthly views by 200K in less than 2 months using her strategies (which is a lot when first starting out!). I still use her manual pinning techniques to help my Pinterest views. The girl is smart! Make sure to start her course now while it’s still available!

WHO PINTERESTING STRATEGIES IS FOR

I recommend this course for anyone looking to understand Pinterest and how it works. It is also for anyone looking to increase their page views and find a “system” that works for pinning while staying organized.

WHO THE COURSE IS NOT FOR

The course is NOT for anyone looking for a get rich quick through Pinterest scheme. Blogging takes time and Pinterest is the same. You need to be willing to spend the time to make Pinterest work using her strategies. It will take time and effort, but it’s worth every second.

Sharing is caring!

This is one of the best posts ive ever read in regards to bloggers being spread too thin. I personally came from corporate marketing into blogging solo and the tactics are so different. I tried to be everywhere on social media too! Just not possible with kids a blog and life in general. My blog is about SEO and SEO is a big traffic driver for me but since it doesnt work alone, i now focus on Pinterest too! And i wasted a lot of effort on instagram. Why is it so addicting?! Anyway, thanks for writing a great article and kudos to the SEO efforts you made on this piece, you did well.

That is so true Elizabeth! You can't be everywhere AND have an actual life manning a business all by yourself. I think we've all been sucked into that Instagram trap. It really is too time consuming for what you get out of it. We hear it works well for influencers, so we assume it will work well for bloggers.
